So, I’ve been quiet lately.

It hasn’t been my intention to ignore tumblr; I just haven’t had the motivation or energy to get through more than the first couple of dash pages most days.

Which boils down to my being a spoonie (if you haven’t heard of The Spoon Theory, please click here). I haven’t had the motivation outside my work schedule to do much of anything. My blog, tumblr, the numerous craft projects I have in progress have all gone ignored.

I’m not leaving or anything, no worries. I’m just waiting it out.

castlequirks:

Hello, Castle Fandom! Since we won’t be having a new Castle episode this week, I came up with a game we can all play.

As we all know, one quirk of Castle are the suspects or the criminals in every episode. So instead of making a post about all of them per episode, why not let you, the fandom, guess who they are?

This game will have three (3) rounds. Each round has a different set of rules and tasks to do, but with only one objective: To prove if you really watch Castle not only for the characters and ships, but for the amazing storyline it has as well.

And oh, there will be five winners every round! So don’t get disheartened if you didn’t make the cut, remember, you still have more rounds coming.

To be fair, you can only win once. If you win the first round, you are still qualified to join the game, but cannot be selected as one of the winners per round—-to give chance to others.

The five winners per round gets a fansign (separately) for the Castle Quirks Blogs Of The Week section. (No, I will not ship off some Castle merchandise, okay? I’m not that rich to pay for shipping costs. I’ll simply send you my love, lol.)

Ready?
This challenge starts this Tuesday, March 6, 8:00 PM (GMT +8:00)

If you have any questions, send them to me.

For anyone with these problems, here’s how to deal with it!
cutlerish:

Why isn’t Tumblr doing anything about this?
Please note that this attack has absolutely nothing to do with the Missing e browser extension!
A while back there was a serious problem with a lot of blogs posting fake “staff” posts about Starbucks coupons or other spam-related things. That problem is still going on.
I’m pretty sure it is linked to what you see in the above photo. Quite a few Tumblr blogs that have been compromised (had their password stolen) have had a few lines of JavaScript added to their themes that cause a pretty big FAKE Tumblr login screen to show up, insisting that the blog you are viewing is somehow 18+ and you have to enter your login to continue.
~ Why is this a problem? ~
This is pretty bad, considering many people on Tumblr are not exceeding tech-savvy. I mean, the thing looks legitimate. I wouldn’t be surprised if quite a few people have just given their passwords away because of this thing. Then, their blog theme is itself changed to continue propagating this phishing attack.
To be clear, you should never enter your password into any page that is not a secure Tumblr page. Here’s a staff post on how to recognize a secure page.
~ What should Tumblr be doing? ~
The script actually loads from a server in China (IP: 222.47.112.220), but beyond that I can’t really work out anything about who is behind it.
The real question I have is why Tumblr hasn’t done anything about this. Other than posting helpful information on recognizing secure Tumblr pages], they don’t seem to be doing very much! I would expect that it would be possible for Tumblr to prevent this script from actually running on themed blog pages, considering it can be traced directly to a malicious server.
I’m thinking about adding something into Missing e to get rid of these fake login boxes, but that doesn’t solve the problem by a long shot!
~ What to do if your account is a victim ~
If your blog is posting spam or your themed blog shows the fake login screen, you can fix it!
First things first, change your password! When you do so, make sure the page you are on is a secure Tumblr page (how to recognize one)
Second, if your blog has the fake login screen, you need to reset your blog’s theme!
If that isn’t possible, you can go in and remove the offending code. It is a couple of lines near the bottom of your theme code that start and end with <script> tags and has a bunch of code with seemingly random numbers and letters

I tried to send someone an Ask today and this popped up, so I’m posting it for my readers. Have a friend visit your page and see if this happens. And change your password regularly!

THE SAGA CONTINUES
Hey Tumblr, gonna do anything about one of your politics editors baselessly attacking women and telling them to go die? No? Thought so.

Die in a fire? DIE IN A FIRE? You can have a political difference or whatever argument with someone else but telling a woman to go die in a fire and then calling her a “feminazi” is shit. Total shit.
I am sad that this person functions as any sort of editor on Tumblr.

EDIT: I&#8217;d delete this but I want people to see, I&#8217;m not siding with Raven here. After seeing for myself a homophobic &#8220;joke&#8221; about Ryking and her response of &#8220;a gay guy started it so you have no right to be offended,&#8221; honestly, both of them need to back the hell off and leave each other alone.

demonicvampiregirl: Yeah and it seems to "work" if you go directly to the post and the users profile to view it but Dashboard side is broke. I just upgraded to the newest version of FF 3 so I'm hoping it works. I'm gonna try in a few. XD

I’m using the most recent version of 3,and it doesn’t for me.

I actually tried contacting tumblr support. I pointed out that this only started a few days ago so it must be something they did with the API, and I told them why I can’t use the new Firefox or switch to Chrome. Their response was that upgrading or switching browsers should fix it.

demonicvampiregirl:

On posts recently even old ones I’ve liked or reblogged says I need Adobe 9 or 10 to play and yet I got the most recent Adobe 10 flash player. Anyone else getting this? I’m on Firefox. Videos work but any music doesn’t.

This was tagged Firefox 3, which caught my eye. I’m running the latest version of 3 because my computer’s a little too old for 9; I tried it a couple weeks ago and Flash is slower than molasses in January, among other things. But this started only a few days ago, about a week after downgrading Firefox back to the 3 I was running.

So now it’s looking more like tumblr. Yaaaayyyy.

‘Cause only select media posts on my dash say I need Flash 9 (for audio) or 10 (for video) to listen or watch, and I have Flash 10.

I’m stickin’ to Firefox, kthx.
